Battling the Demon of Doubt

Battling the Demon of Doubt

Battling the Demon by Joel Phillips 36X32 in. oil on canvas

This painting of the warrior angel Michael is to remind us of our “sureness and freedom from doubt that mysteriously point to the inevitable victory” says Joel Phillips and is a painting that he lives with and derives strength from daily.

I am always fascinated by how a painting will really hit me and stick with me for a long time. It usually is a good indicator of things I am thinking and feeling that have not yet risen to the surface of my awareness. This is the pleasure of art and one of the ways the Spirit can guide us into a deeper walk with our Lord.

This week as you approach your worship resolve to let go of fear. See yourself slay the master giant… the giant the rules all other giants and that is the giant of doubt.

Remember that you are loved and valued by God and reflect on all the times He has aided your battles in the past.

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagle; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40: 28-31

Thank you Brother Joel for your beautiful reminder of our power and strength in the Lord.
