Fall Break

“~Dear Lord, time and time again we rush headlong into our day and forget to ask you to bless our journey. Suddenly we realize we have once again lost the stabilizing force of your presence, and we are filled with anxiety.

Help us now to silence the noise of all our concerns. Help us, as we stumble, to feel your presence and to know your love. Remind us of a special memory of the touch of your Spirit within us. Help us to hold on to the warmth of your grace. Forgive us all our controlling ways, and speak to our hearts so that we may understand your will for our lives.”

~ The Joyful Sound p. 67

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~

Matthew 11: 28-30

Search me God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” ~ Psalm 139: 23-4

“..let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” ~ Psalm 5: 11-12

oh how many times, dear Lord, have I come to these scriptures of comfort, and felt as if they were written about a flickering dream slipping from my grasp…a Garden of Eden for which the map has been lost.

“Guide us as we learn to seek a greater knowledge of resting in your care. Help us to become awake to your  presence each day, and when we do, help us to stop and really listen for the sound of your voice as you call us to reflect the light of your love into the world.” ~ The Joyful Sound p. 100
